Lesson Terms & Policies
These terms help us maintain a stable timetable and reserve a weekly lesson time for each student.
1. Enrollment and Payment
-
Lessons follow the Oslo International School three-season calendar.
-
Enrollment is binding for the full season once the lesson place is confirmed.
-
Payment must be made in advance at the beginning of each season.
-
Payment details and the individual KID number are provided on the invoice.
2. Lesson Length and Fees
-
The standard lesson length is 30 minutes.
-
Lessons of 45 or 60 minutes may be available and are charged proportionally.
-
Fees depend on the student’s level. The instructor determines the appropriate level.
-
Current prices are listed on the Tuition Fees page.
3. Lesson Times
-
Lessons are individual and scheduled one after another.
-
The earliest after-school times are limited and cannot be offered to every student.
-
We will consider scheduling requests, but a particular time cannot be guaranteed.
-
Once confirmed, the weekly lesson time normally remains fixed for the full season.
-
Any requested change depends on instructor and timetable availability.
4. Student Absences
-
Lessons missed by the student are not rescheduled or refunded.
-
This includes absence due to illness, travel, birthdays, holidays, school events or other personal circumstances.
-
Families should notify the instructor of an absence as early as possible.
-
Notice of absence does not create a right to a replacement lesson.
Official OIS School Trips
-
The only exception is an official mandatory OIS school trip announced by the school.
-
An eligible missed lesson may be made up only during the designated gap week at the end of that season.
-
If the student cannot attend the replacement lesson offered during the gap week, the lesson expires.
-
Missed lessons cannot be carried forward to a later season.
5. Instructor Absences
-
If an instructor cancels a lesson, a replacement lesson will be arranged.
-
If a replacement is not possible, the family will receive a credit or refund.
-
A replacement arrangement should normally be agreed within 14 days of the original lesson.
-
If the student does not attend an agreed replacement lesson, no further replacement or refund will be offered.
-
If an instructor arrives late and the full lesson cannot be given, the missing teaching time will be replaced or credited.
6. Arrival and Collection
-
Students must arrive on time and be collected promptly after the lesson.
-
A student who arrives late will receive a lesson only for the remaining scheduled time.
-
The lesson will still finish at the usual time because another student may be waiting.
-
Parents or guardians are responsible for the student before and after the lesson.
-
Instructors cannot supervise students outside their scheduled lesson time.
7. Moving Between School Activities
-
Parents or guardians are responsible for ensuring that the student arrives at the lesson room on time.
-
Students coming from another activity must wait at the agreed meeting place.
-
An instructor may help a younger student when the timetable allows, but this cannot be guaranteed.
-
Instructors cannot search for students around the school while other lessons are scheduled.
8. Books, Materials and Examination Fees
-
Families are responsible for purchasing the books, sheet music and other materials required for lessons.
-
The instructor will provide the correct title, edition or purchasing information.
-
Examination, audition and competition fees are not included in the lesson fee and must be paid by the family.
9. School Closures and Events Beyond Our Control
-
Severe weather, transport disruption, school closure or other events beyond our reasonable control may affect lessons.
-
When possible, lessons may be moved online, transferred to another venue or rearranged.
-
Individual illness or injury is not considered an event beyond our control and follows the normal student absence policy.
10. Continuation and Cancellation
-
Families must confirm continuation for the next season by the stated deadline.
-
If confirmation is not received, the lesson time may be offered to another student.
-
A confirmed enrollment cannot normally be cancelled during the season.
-
A request to change or end lessons applies from the following season.
11. Late Payment
-
A payment reminder will be sent if an invoice is overdue.
-
If payment is not received within two weeks of the reminder, lessons may be suspended or discontinued.
-
Unpaid invoices may be sent for debt collection, with any applicable additional costs.
12. General Terms
-
By registering for lessons, parents or guardians confirm that they have read and accepted these terms.
-
Musica Lirica may update these terms when necessary.
-
Families will be informed of significant changes.
-
Questions or circumstances not covered here will be discussed in good faith.
